Mark Gregson – Walters

Director of Instructions

Mark Gregson-Walters has over 17 years experience working in Dubai.

He has been the Head Professional Coach at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club Golf Academy. Director of Instruction at the Academy by Troon Golf at the Montgomerie Dubai. Director of instruction for Peter Cowen Golf Academy at Emirates G.C. then created MGW Golf Academy based out of EGC with focus on Grass Roots Golf in schools (an award winning program) through to teaching European Tour Professionals.

Over this period Mark has had success with European Tour, Asian Tour, MENA Tour, Ladies European Tour players. Amateurs who have won all the major tournaments in the UAE and Juniors who have successfully developed in to US College players.

Mark has jointly created the app GML which is a golf specific physical training program. Mark still enjoys coaching international and local amateur golfers, enabling them to succeed in achieving their own personal goals.

Senior Teaching Professional

Starting at the age of 14 his love for the game grew rapidly which resulted in him becoming a member of the PGA in 2006.

In 2008 he moved to Miami, Florida and the Jim Mclean Golf School at Doral Golf Resort and Spa to be the Golf Professional for 3D biomechanics expert Dr Robert Neal and Golf BioDynamics. The Jim Mclean Golf School is regarded as the leading golf coaching facility in America, where Gavin worked alongside and learnt from many of America’s top 100 coaches and teachers including Jim Mclean, David Leadbetter, Martin Hall, John Bierkan and Brian Manzella. He then moved to Singapore and the Phil Brew Golf Academy where he was the Biomechanics consultant for the Singapore Golf Association as well as many Asian Touring Professionals. Gavin has joined ETPI after being the Senior Golf Professional at Al Badia Golf Club by Intercontinental, where for the last two years he has been assisting golfers of all levels to reach their goals and aspirations.

Learning from many of the world’s best golf coaches and players allows Gavin to help students of all abilities and provide them with the skills necessary to become better players. Gavin’s goal is simple, to be able to provide his students with skills to play better golf with a technique that is simple and repeatable.

Tim Backhouse

Teaching Professional

Tim was introduced to the game of golf at the age of 7; he won numerous tournaments as an amateur in both junior and men’s events, playing as a member of both the Cheshire junior and men’s elite squads before turning professional at the age of 23. He played on local professional tours and competed in PGA events nationally including the English PGA Championship and PGA Club Professional’s championship in the UK.

Having worked at his home club of Bromborough golf club in the North West of England for 7 years as assistant professional Tim moved to The Royal golf club in Bahrain as senior teaching professional where he coached all levels of golfing ability, from national team members to entry level golfers, including developing a strong junior team which included boys who competed in worldwide junior competitions.

He has also played and worked with European tour players, giving him priceless knowledge and experience to pass onto pupils of his own. Keeping thoughts and technique as simple as possible.

Matthew Allanson

PGA Class AA Professional and Custom Fitting Specialist

Matthew has been fortunate to work alongside some of the finest coaches in the game as well as fitting multiple PGA & European Tour Players during his time with TaylorMade Golf.

As an avid football player in his youth with a number of professional football clubs, Matthew began playing golf at age 15 and soon became hooked on the game. As a pupil of the game himself, Matthew soon discovered his own passion for teaching golf to others, turning professional in 2009.

In 2013 Matthew joined Al Badia Golf Club, where he became  recognised as one of the region’s leading club fitting specialists, before returning his focus to his first love coaching the following year.

Matthew’s coaching style and methods have delivered lower scores and better, more repeatable swings for a number of tour players and amateurs of all abilities, and in 2016 he became a certified AimPoint Express Putting Instructor, one of only a handful in the region.

Matthew’s primary objective is to help golfers gain a simple understanding of what they need to do in order to enjoy the game more.
